Interviewed by Time’s editor-in-chief, in the (virtual) company of Klaus Schwab, founder and president of the World Economic Forum, which is organizing today’s discussion, Alexander De Croo (ADC) distilled his good advice for the « stakeholders of capitalism⁽¹⁾We are talking about the elite of the globalized elite, those who prescribe « remedies » to counter the coronavirus and who subsequently see their share prices rise… A look at the greatest deception of all: that of having allowed political leaders to depose the power of the people in their name in order to serve the sole interests of their class.⁽²⁾.

The year 2021 will be decisive for the future of humanity, from the fight against COVID-19 to climate change. What role can stakeholder capitalism play in the pursuit of a more sustainable, resilient and inclusive global economy? »⁽³⁾. In addition to Klaus Schwab, Alexander De Croo, we find Dan Schulman, president of PayPal, or Mariana Mazzucato, from the University College London, and, as often, the embodiment of good in a « UNICEF goodwill ambassador », here in the person of Angélique Kidjo.

The covid, this « great opportunity

For Klaus Schwab, the covid « crisis » is an opportunity, the occasion for a « great reset ». He considers it in three aspects:

•  » A better world can emerge from this crisis if we act quickly and jointly
• The changes we have already seen in the face of COVID-19 prove that it is possible to rethink our economic and social foundations.
• This is our best chance to establish stakeholder capitalism »⁽⁴⁾.

In short, the same people who destroyed this world are now proposing to save it by rebuilding it « differently ». But behind this semblance of goodwill and the ever-renewed feeling of a sudden, unexpected awareness, these are only words, a subterfuge allowing to perpetuate the domination and the profits which result from it⁽⁵⁾. This is how politicians have become « coaches ».⁽⁶⁾ The purpose of this project is to create support and confidence in a « more sustainable, resilient and inclusive » society, or to sell us a product, propagated by media that share the same worldview and the same goals. The political reaction around the covid, relegating any word disapproving of the choices of the leaders to the realm of conspiracy, or simply censoring it, clearly indicates the continuity of the destitution of the people as to the capacity to decide their future.

It is edifying to note that this new dominant concept of « stakeholder capitalism », a new concept insidiously presented as « different »⁽⁷⁾ while it only serves the continuity of the same world-system, is discussed with the Belgian Prime Minister, in conversation with the boss of PayPal and the boss of the Economic Forum. This indicates the importance that the oligarchs place on Belgium to ensure their « disruptive » transition, as the capital hosts the European institutions, including the Commission, which is the spearhead of private interests.

The « reset » or the destructive continuity

Like the past and present slaves of the South who were and are massacred under the altar of the capitalist market economy, colonial in the first period, globalist in the second (neo-colonialist continuation of the first period), the Western populations are currently sacrificed on the altar of the great reset. In a period that would inevitably see an unprecedented economic collapse (the economic crisis of 2008 returning in a particularly amplified form), while climatic disasters were progressively fuelling reflection on our development model and the will to change it was born, the leaders wanted to give themselves control over « creative destruction » while attributing it to something other than capitalism and the way they served it: this was covid

Klaus Schwab’s speech sounds like an omen, a realization of the words:  » COVID-19 confinements may be gradually relaxed, but concern about the world’s social and economic prospects is only growing. There is good reason to be concerned: a severe economic recession has already begun and we could be facing the worst depression since the 1930s. But, although this conclusion is likely, it is not inevitable « . Their statements are contradictory only in appearance — strong concerns, but hope; probable, but not inevitable; worsening and improvement, … -, expecting the worst — economic recession, misery, climatic catastrophes — and proposing the antidote to this world they have created.

(…)  » To achieve better outcomes, the world must act jointly and quickly to rethink all aspects of our societies and economies, from education to social contracts to working conditions. Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to technology, must be transformed. To put it simply, we need a « Great Reset » of capitalisme « .

 » There are many reasons to launch this great reset, but the most urgent is COVID-19″ (…)  » We are far from finished with this crisis. [NDLR Il écrit ça en juin 2020] « It will have serious long-term consequences for economic growth, public debt, employment and human well-being » (…) « All this will aggravate the climate and social crises already under way ».

 » One of the positives of the pandemic is that it showed how quickly we can make radical changes to our l ifestyles.

 » Similarly, the people have overwhelmingly shown their willingness to make sacrifices on behalf of health care workers and other essential professions, as well as vulnerable populations, such as the elderly . »

Alexander De Croo, the businessman

Let’s recall that Alexander De Croo, presented as « entrepreneur, Darts-IP; Project Leader, Boston Consulting Group… » on the page of the World Economic Forum, is also a member of Friends of Europe, Think tank founded by Etienne Davignon, where we can also find Petra De Sutter and Frank Vandenbroucke, in the government De Croo, Isabelle Durant or Yves Leterme, Thomas Leysen to represent the media (Mediahuis group : Nostalgie, NRJ, Het Nieuwsblad, De Standaard, Het Belang Van Limburg⁽⁸⁾…), but also Jean-Claude Juncker, Pascal Lamy (former director general of the WTO), etc⁽⁹⁾.

Friends of Europe was where Bill Gattes was on February 16, 2017, for a conference titled, « Shaping the World — A pivotal moment in research and innovation for global health. »… Among the speakers? Luc Debruyne, President of GSK, Strategic Advisor to the Coalition for Innovations in Epidemic Preparedness: « Behind the acronym CEPI are countries such as Norway and Japan, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Wellcome Trust, the second richest medical charity after Gates. A classic PPP (public-private partnership), strongly supported by the WHO to accelerate the development of a vaccine⁽¹⁰⁾. And who did Gates meet with just before this conference? Charles Michel and Alexander De Croo…

Is it any wonder that Alexander De Croo did not answer our questions at the press conference?
